NAIFA-RI - Working to PROTECT your Industry

One of the most important initiatives that NAIFA-RI undertakes each year is the oversight of legislation submitted by the Members of the General Assembly.

With a watchful eye for legislation that we believe is either damaging or beneficial to our life and health insurance industry, our Legislative Committee meets weekly during the legislative session to review each bill to determine if we should Support, Oppose or Watch the legislation proposed.

When a bill is scheduled for a hearing, our committee members testify at the hearings of bills we are either supporting or opposing, dedicating countless hours to protect your industry and your livelihood.

Currently there are 51 bills that have been proposed in the 2008 Legislative Session that we are tracking, and each is listed below. We have provided here the title and brief summary of the bill, with a live link that will take you to the actual bill language should you choose to investigate it further. We strongly encourage your review of these bills and ask for your opinions and comments. We do not list below which bills we Support, Oppose or Watch so as not to reveal our strategy to our potential opponents, but we are happy to share this information with you, our NAIFA-RI member.

If you have comments or questions about any legislation listed below, please contact us TODAY!
